Croydon Stroke Support Group

Croydon Stroke Support Group was founded in 1990 by Gillian Simons, to bring encouragement & support to Stroke Survivors & their Carers.

She formed the group after suffering a stroke herself in 1987 & finding no one to advise her once back home. It was a long recovery period & really, is still ongoing.

Croydon Stroke Support Group encourages fellow Stroke survivors & their carers to share their experiences & to support each other in a friendly, caring environment. Activities include:-

Rehabilitation is an ongoing process & the opportunity for improvement is always there. You can learn how others cope with their disabilities & share experiences for a happier healthier lifestyle. Develop new & lasting friendships.

Croydon Stroke Group meets every Thursday at the Heathmont Uniting Church, 89 Canterbury Road , Heathmont - from 10.30am-12noon. A ‘home visit’ is preferred prior to attending so that information on the Group can be given & various forms handed out etc. to be filled in plus Gillian & the new attendee can get to know one another, etc., which isn’t always possible on the day due to just being too busy with running the Group.
