Croydon Men's Shed
Croydon
Men's Shed (CMS) commenced operations in January 2012 and meets
in Building CN5,
at Swinburne TAFE, Norton Road Croydon, on
Tuesday Thursday and Saturday mornings from 10am. CMS is an Incorporated
Association with its own Committee of Management, aims/objectives and
administrative procedures. In addition CMS is a member of the Australian
and Victorian Men's Shed Associations and strives to work within their
respective principles and guidelines.
The concept of men's sheds has grown rapidly throughout Australia and there are now over 1000 sheds Australia wide and although the CMS has only been in existence for a short time enquiries and interest in our activities are being received on a weekly basis.
A prime purpose of the Croydon Men's Shed is to provide a friendly place where men, who live in the surrounding area, can go to meet with their mates, share their experiences and skills and take part in projects to assist themselves and their broader community.
CMS has a current membership of
over 50 and we charge a $25 Joining Fee and
an Annual Fee of $50 which covers Insurance, some Administrative
Expenses and weekly tea/coffee expenses (a necessity when having a good
"chat").
Our activities are growing with a current focus on woodwork projects including bird feeder and breeding boxes and some private projects which members have undertaken.
The Committee and members of CMS have been heartened by the amount of community support which has been forthcoming to date via donations of equipment, tools and consumables, support of our Sausage Sizzle fundraising efforts at Woolworths - Canterbury Gardens, Kilsyth and the continuous stream of general enquiries about our shed and its activities.
